GETTING READY FOR HALLOWEEN...

As soon as we start October children begin to ask for Halloween, they love to celebrate this day at school. We decorate the corridor with scary pictures, we dress up as monsters, witches, vampires, skeletons, ghosts... put on masks, and then we sing, dance and play games. And of course they all bring the pumpkins, also desguised. They enjoy and learn at the same time.

See how funny it was.

THEATRE

On Friday, 24th October we went to the theater once again. This time the play we saw was "Tarzan". The environment was great and the students participated, laughted and sang the songs we had been preparing in the English class.
See how funny it was.

In 19th June, Mo came to visit us. Mo is an English man who is staying in Guim's and Pau's house,(pupils from Sant Blai school in Algerri). He is living in their house for 5 weeks. He is a friend of the family and it was very kind of him to share some of his time with us talking in English.

He explained us lots of things from his country and from his life and also from all the places he has been in. He showed us lots of pictures. Mo loves travelling.

It was very interesting and the children loved asking him questions. They could practice real English and we had a great time with him.

We would like to see him again if he ever comes to Algerri in the future.
Good luck Mo! It's been nice to meet you.

Pupils from CM learn places in a village or a town, they learn to ask and say places around them. They also listen and read information about different transports in cities and they prepare a little project about a street in a town. They practice orally what's in their streets using there is, there are, there isn't a and there aren't any.... They all do it pretty well!!

AROUND THE WORLD

In unit 4 pupils learn about constructions, wonders of the world, they learn comparative and superlative adjectives, they sing songs using them, and they also make a display about a country in which they locate the most amazing constructions and incredible facts. Finally they learn how to talk about it and they act it out in front of the class. Here you can see some examples.

In C.M, in each unit, the vocabulary is presented through a funny word rap. The rithem  of these raps motivate the students to say the new words and helps to learn it in a funny way and they memorize it  so easily.
This time  we are learning "Around the town".

CM Escola Santa Maria

Children from C.I. are studying the clothes. As children, they love dressing up and singing. So in the classroom we take advantadge of this natural learning and we let them dance and sing these funny songs. It really helps to remember the new vocabulary in a much easier way.

Children have also learnt the seasons and what can you see in them. Here is another song they love to sing .

These days  children from C.S.  are studying different foods from around the world and also how to talk about it and being able to explain different recipes. For that some of them have elaborated a special dish and we decided to bring them to school and have a lovely meal for lunch all together. We could enjoy eating pizza (from Italy), sarmale (from Romania), encchiladas (from Mexico), catalan cream, creppes (from France), cupcakes (from America), nachos with a special cheese sauce (from Mexico) and  I also made a Trifle, a traditional and popular dessert in the UK which is very easy to make.

Recipe for Trifle
Ingredients:
-some strawberries
-some dry cake
-some jelly
-some jam
-some custard
-some water
-some thick cream
-some chocolate

Now you can enjoy watching some of the children preparing their recepies.

On January 17th Imma, Tim, and their daughters Aida and Alba visited us in the school. They live in Australia but Imma, the mother,  is from Algerri.
They usually come every two years to Algerri and whenever they come they pop in to say hello to us.
We ask them to come when I am in the school, as for an English teacher from la Zer I share my time among the three schools. When they come to visit us we spend the afternoon doing English activities. They explain things about their country, and Tim reads a story. Last time Tim red us a nice story: "Grandpa and Thomas and the green umbrella" by Pamela Allen, and his daughter Alba helped doing funny gestures to make it easy to understand.
Then we sang some songs, acting songs like "If you're happy and you know it!", "Here we go Looby-Loo" and others. Tim loves playing the guitar, so we had lots of fun dancing and singing along with him.
Finally the children took in turns to make questions and practise some English. They enjoyed the afternoon and we all think it's a different and motivating experience to learn English.
We are looking forward to seeing them soon again!

Having fun with SONGS

Another song we have been working on and enjoying a lot is What make's you beautiful  One direction. If you want to keep practicing you can listen to it again and sing along.

Sing along with Passenger, "Let her go".
